Cancer Diet

Cancer,
one of the killer in modern days.
So, do we avoid all cancer causing or "said to be" cancer causing agent?
or do we eat only those "said to be" good for health?
or do we take a bundle of health supplements everyday as a "prevention"?

Three main principle for cancer prevention,
or for cancer patients during treatment for maintainace include:

* Balance diet (combination of fish, meat, egg, milk, vegetables, fruits and grains),
* Increase Calorie (to promote immunity and strength)
* Increase protein intake (fish, soya bean products, mushrooms)

All diet should increase effectiveness of cancer treatment, 
and at the same time, decrease toxicity impact of the treatment on the body.
Cancer patients do not have to purposely obtain nourishment diet, 
nor purposely avoid all types of food which might cause cancer.
 
~FIVE main cancer causing food~

  • Excessive fat or oil, high calorie food (excessive meat intake / internal organ of animal)
  • Deep fried food
  • Grilled or Barbeque food: especially charred part
  • Preserved or marinated food
  • Sausage and bacon 
~Zinc & Selenium: micronutrient for cancer prevention~

Zinc:

Function : to restore injured tissue, improve taste and appetite
Source: 
  • Meat: beef, mutton, chicken (esp turkey)
  • Seafood: mussels, clams, oyster, fish, prawn
  • egg, cheese, milk
  • Grains: oats, millet, brown rice
  • Nuts and Seeds: walnut, pumpkin seeds, chest nut, sesame
  • Beans: soybean, black bean, tofu
  • Others: carrot, potato, eggplant, cabbage, mushroom, fungus, black sugar, honey

Selenium:

Function: protect against cancer cell invasion and oxidation (antioxidant), improve immunity
Source:
  • Seafood: fish, tuna, salmon, clam, crab
  • Meat: chicken breast, mutton
  • Egg, egg yolk, milk
  • Grains and nuts
  • Vegetables: onion, brocolli, celery,garlic, cabbage, pumpkin, tomato, carrot, mustard, mushroom

NOTE:
Avoid intake of processed food
e.g. canned food, sausage, preserved vegetables/fruits, instant noodles/beverages
Avoid intake of refined food
e.g. cake, desserts, white rice, flour, white sugar
Diet should include all fresh foods which are slightly seasoned during cooking
